Call for Articles by Bratislava International Symposium

Kanoon, Children’s Book Council, and Iranian Illustrators Society published the call for articles by Bratislava International Symposium 2021.

According to Kanoon General Directorate for Public Relations and International Affairs, the 28th round of this symposium is held on Oct 16 and 17, 2021 with the theme of "COMICS IN THE CURRENT PICTURE BOOK FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH" (Creative and discovery strategies).

Bratislava International Symposium is held every two years concurrently with Biennial of Illustration Bratislava (BIB) in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. Researchers will present their articles on the announced theme. Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, Children Books’ Council, and Iranian Illustrators Society have invited the interested ones to send their abstracts, ranging between 500 to 800 words, including: goals, research question, methodology, findings and results, in Farsi and in English until January 6, 2021 via email: booksection@kpf.ir

After abstracts are reviewed by the jury of the three organizations, the selected person will be introduced to Biennial of Illustration Bratislava (BIB) to present their article in this symposium. The selected person must deliver their complete article in English to the International Affairs Office until April 22, 2021.

Based on the news, Kanoon will pay the expenses for the trip and the organization holding the ceremony will pay the expenses for the period the lecturer participating in this cultural event. 

They must present their profile showing their activities in the domain of children book and illustration, presentmilitary service license if obligatory for men; having a good command of English is obligatory, too.  

Biennial of Illustration Bratislava (BIB) is held in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia Republic. It exhibits works by illustrators for children books. 

This exhibition is in line with the goals of the following organizations: UNESCO, 

International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY),national commissions, and fine arts organizations have provided the chance for illustrators to meet each other and prepared the conditions to evaluate these works and as a result prepare the conditions to develop and promote this art. 

The organizers and sponsors of the exhibition are the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic, the National Commission for UNESCO in Slovakia and the Bibiana International House of Art for Children.
