“Yadoo”, The Best in Fajr Film Festival

“Yadoo”, recent Kanoon feature film directed by Mehdi Jafari, is the best film in Fajr Film Festival. It won five Crystal Simorgh and one Honorary Diploma in this outstanding cinema event.

According to Kanoon General Directorate for Public Relations and International Affairs, on the memorable night of presenting awards to the bests of Iran cinema,2021 at “Seeking Simorgh”(Sodaye Simorgh) section, “Yadoo” managed to win “Crystal Simorgh” for the best director, the best film, the best sound recordist, the best dubbing, the best cinematography and an honorary diploma for the best actress in a leading role from the 39th Fajr Film Festival.

Based on this, at the closing ceremony of the festival held on the evening of Feb 10th 2021, the “Crystal Simorgh” for the best director was given to Mehdi Jafari; the “Crystal Simorgh” for the best film was given to Mohammad Reza Mesbah the producer; the “Crystal Simorgh” for the best sound recording was given to Rashid Daneshmand; the “Crystal Simorgh” for the best dubbing was given to Amir Hossein Ghasemi; the “Crystal Simorgh” for the best cinematography was given to Morteza Najafi and an Honorary Diploma for the best actress in a leading role was given to Setareh Pesyani for “Yadoo”, Kanoon feature film.

Mohammad Reza Mesbah, “Yadoo” producer who had gone to the stage with Milad Soylavi, a young actor, to receive the Crystal Simorgh for the best film said, “I am proud of myself to be part of a competition where many precious films were attending. I wished the group who made the film were here on the stage but it is impossible due to following the hygiene protocols. I would like to thank Kanoon and Farabi Cinema Foundation.” 

He said that “Yadoo” was the most difficult and the most different work of mine. All the agents worked wholeheartedly. I hope making such films can contribute to the people’s living condition in Khuzestan.”

Mesbah reminded that “Yadoo” was nominated in many sections but Milad Soylavi nomination was an honor for us since we introduced a new talent to Iran cinema. 

In closing ceremony of the festival and after receiving the award for the best directing , Mehdi Jafari, “Yadoo” film director, said, “This film can never match “Bashu, the Little Stranger”, “The Runner”, “Where is the Friend’s House?” produced by Kanoon, but it was an endeavor to revive Kanoon cinema. 

He added that I feel indebted to the kind, warm and defending people in Abadan. These works are part of the national identity of Iran cinema. I believe every Simorgh is the result of the hard work of a group. I am grateful to Kanoon and Farabi Cinema Foundation. 

It is reminded that “Yadoo” was nominated in 13 sections: the best for field special effects, the best in make-up, the best in set designing, the best in sound recording, the best in original score, the best editing, the best cinematography, the best actor in a leading role, the best actress in a leading role, the best screenplay, the best director, and the best film.

“Yadoo” is produced in line with the strategic partnership between Kanoon and Farabi Cinema Foundation. 

The closing ceremony of the 39th Fajr Film Festival was held in the evening of Feb 10th, 2021 at Milad Tower  International Conference Center.
