Publishing a Seven-Volume Collection for Iranian Children: “Iranian Parables and Fables”

Kanoon published “Proverbs, Parables and Fables by the Iranian” in a seven-volume collection written by Tahereh Ibod with cooperation of a number of illustrators for age category above 4, now in book market.

According to Kanoon General Directorate for Public Relations and International Affairs, “The Collection of Parables” is the general title for the new collection written by Tahereh Ibod for children above 4. In every volume, Iranian fables, parables and fictions that are simple and musical are the theme to recreate the story. 

Tahereh Ibod had previously written an article titled “Fictions and Play Songs: “Their Characteristics and Influence on Children”. It was published in 2015 in the forum of Children Literature Research. 

In a dialog about this article, she has explained that there are specific characteristics in Iranian parables, fictions, play songs that makes them not only attractive to children but also they are the reasons why they are lasting in the history of folkloric literature. The musical parables, the great deal of using music and various tones, repetition of phrases and words looking meaningless have various use for children. For instance, they have the property of language teaching-learning, cultivating imagination, increasing cognitive and environmental knowledge of children, strengthening their vocal cords and the like.

“Atal, Matal, Kootooleh (Shorty)”; “Is it Leek or Butter and Bray and Kick” ;  “Aan, Maan, Cloud Cows, Don’t Rain” ; “Hajastam Vajastam (I Jumped), A Bouquet, in My Hand” ; “It is Raining Cats and Dogs on Every Corner of the City” ; “Top, Top, Where is my Dough? Where is my Basin of Cheese?” ; “Uncle Chain Knitter and Thieves of Ghaf Mountain” are the titles of the parables collection. Pejman Rahimizadeh has done the graphics and art supervision. Samira Faraji was Kanoon art manager for books. 

Meanwhile Saiedeh Ahmadi, Maryam Tarverdi, Hadis Jazayeri, Fatemeh Ghasemi, Mehdi Mazraeh Farahani, Sahar Behnejad, and Maral Dehghani have done illustrations for the collection. 

Every volume of this collection is published in 2500 copies for 23,000 Tomans presented at Kanoon bookstores and at: shop.kpf.ir
