Iranian Children among the winners of the World Story Telling Championship, India

Two Iranian Children Received Awards from World Story Telling Championship (WSTC), India. They are members of Kanoon centers.

According to Kanoon General Directorate for Public Relations and International Affairs, “Raha Taheri” from Kanoon center in Takestan,Qazvin province performed a tale in the semi-final stage of “On Simorgh Wing” written by Paeezeh Taheri. In the final stage, she could ranked first with a story called “The Size of the World” based on a book written by Shokouh Ghasemnia for age category 13 to 15. 

“Raha Taheri” had previously been selected at Ninety-Minute Stories Section of Kanoon International Storytelling Festival.  

“Noura Mohkamkar” from Kanoon No. 43 in Tehran participated in the semi-final stage of the contest with a story titled “The First Stage of Shahnameh”. In the international section, she could rank second with a story called “Lona, the Word Collector” for the age category of 8 to 12.  

“Hamed Rahmani” and “Peyman Ebrahimi” translated the stories by the two storytellers. 

Accordingly, following the outbreak of the pandemic and the cancelling of the World Storytelling Competition last year, the World Storytelling Championship was held virtually for the first time and Farsi was included among the accepted languages ​​of this competition.

The World Storytelling Championship was hosted by India and featured 5200 participants from 130 countries. There was no age limit for the competition, with non-professional storytellers aged 3 to 18 and adult professional storytellers competing in six different categories.

In these competitions, more than 100 judges in the semi-final stage and dozens of judges, including Ali Kashefi, a writer of children and adolescents, as the representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran were present in the final stage of judging. 

The final ceremony of the World Storytelling Championships was hosted by India on December 26 and 27, 2021.
