Familiarity with “Materials” from Stone Age up to the Present

Kanoon recently published “Materials”, a book from the four-volume collection called “Stone Age Science”.

According to Kanoon General Directorate for Public Relations and International Affairs, “Materials” is a book for children above 12, “Grade-schooler”, to make them familiar with various materials such as color (paint), glass, uranium and the like.

The four-volume collection “Stone Age Science” is written by Felicia Law and Gerry Bailey, illustrated by Mike Philips and translated by Ali Khakbazan.

This collection is written in the form of documentary-fiction in the sense that the main character of each book is a talented boy called “Leo” who knows everything. He is all the time learning and experiencing. He has a cat called “Place”. Leo teaches his cat all he knows and learns.

In part of the book we read: By the way, you may ask about “Stone Age”. Stone Age is a period of human beings life that goes back to 30 thousand years ago. Since then, human beings have used certain “Materials” to make houses and tools. “Materials” is the title of one of the books in “Stone Age Science” collection.

This books talks about colors (paints), shield, uranium, glass, and other stuff. Leo teaches Palace how to make a feathered helmet and how to draw on the glass.

A scientist is introduced in each of the book of the collection. Marie Curie, the well-known Polish-French physicist and chemist and the uranium discoverer is introduced in “Materials”. There is a glossary at the end of each book.

The 36-page book "Materials" has been published three times at the same time and its circulation has reached 7,500 copies.
