According to Kanoon General Directorate for Public Relations and International Affairs, after reviewing books by various authors, it was decided to introduce last year’s nominee, Hamid Reza Shahabadi for the domain of writing and for the domain of promoting book reading projects, Kanoon introduced “Mobile Libraries” to receive this prestigious award in 2022. 

Sweden government launched the International Astrid Lindgren Mekorial Award with the intention of having access to good stories for the children worldwide. This award is given to a person or organization for special contributing to children and adolescents’ literature.This award (worth 5 million Swedish kronor) is the largest world award for children's literature and the second largest literary award after the Oscars.

Astrid Lindgren is the well-known Swedish author. She has written books like “Pippi Long Stocking” and “Karlsson on the Roof”. She passed away in 2002 at the age of 94. To commemorate her, Sweden government established an international contest held every year in this country.

According to the organizers of the prize, 250 works were selected from 97 countries as the nominees for the contest this year.

Institute for the  Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, The Children's Book Council of Iran, Institute for Research on the History of Children's Literature Iranian and Iranian Association of Writers for Children & Youth Iranian Section of IBBY are the four delegations for introducing Iran’s candidate for the 2022 award.

Last year’s winner was Jean Claude Mourlevat, the French author for children and adolescents. He depicts his books based on myth and fantasy so that a similar example cannot be found anywhere else. He started writing in 1997. His books are translated into twenty languages.

It is reminded that the ceremony of presenting Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award is held online on May 31, 2021.
