According to Kanoon General Directorate for Public Relations and International Affairs, in competition with films from various countries, this film won the Grand Prize of this round of Busan Film Festival held in South Korea with the unanimous decision of the jury.  “Midday Meal” is the story of a teacher in a deprived village that faces various hardships and challenges to save the problems of the village school. Winning this prize has made an independent introduction of “Midday Meal” possible for consideration in the Best International Feature Film category at the 2027 Oscars. Based on academy’s new rules, the winner of Busan best film award can be introduced for this branch without the need of official selection. This movie also needs to meet the other requirements set by the Academy to enter the Oscar competition.
