Kanoon Nominees to Receive Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award Introduced

Hamid Reza Shahabadi and Kanoon mobile libraries are introduced as nominees to receive Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award in 2021.

According to Kanoon General Directorate for Public Relations and International Affairs, Shahabadi, a children author and Kanoon Village Mobile Libraries in the section for spreading and promoting reading books are introduced as nominees to receive this award for 2021.

Astrid Lindgren Award is one of the most outstanding awards for children and adolescents literature by Sweden government to commemorate this popular Swedish author, the one who has written “Pippi Longstocking” and “Karlsson-on-the-Roof”.

The goal of this award is to reinforce and promote the qualitative level of children literature and promoting children rights round the world. Every year more than 60 countries from all over the world participate in this contest.

The delegations to choose the nominees for 2021 award from Iran consist of Kanoon, Council of Children Books, the Institute for Research on the History of Children’s Literature, and Iranian Association of Writers for Children and Youth.

Kanoon introduced Houshang Moradi Kermani for the field of authorship and Kanoon mobile libraries project in the field of spreading reading books as the nominees to this contest.

“Messenger of Hope” is introduced as a subcategory of Kanoon Mobile Libraries to the contest secretariat.

 “Messenger of Hope” is an activity by Kanoon in which it sends coaches and mobile libraries to the earthquake or flood beaten areas or areas that do not have access to such facilities. They perform literature and artistic programs to improve their psychological conditions especially those of children and adolescents.  

It should be mentioned that Heena Baek, an illustrator from South Korea, won Astrid Lindgren Award last year.
