Toy Council Supervises the Content of “Escape Rooms”

Toy Council supports the process of forming and producing “Escape Rooms” and the events related to them.

According to Kanoon General Directorate for Public Relations and International Affairs, Vida Maleki, the head of the secretariat of Toy Council, called the launch of a specialized commission on the issue of the “Escape Room” as the first step the council took last year to support, guide and monitor the game.

According to her, this commission is trying to develop appropriate cultural structures and formal frameworks to create and direct a flow of healthy and fun entertainment based on solving puzzles and thinking, meanwhile it supports the interested in such games.

Maleki said that in addition to supervising, the council supports the holding of events in this area and the commencing of new “Escape Room”. She said the council is supposed to take the responsibility of supervising the content of these rooms.

In this regard, the head of the Secretariat of the Toy Supervision Council, whose secretariat is located in the Center for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, announced the support of the first National Festival of Raazgosha (Decoding) Escape Room. She said the call for this event was published in January 2021, since then 94 ideas and 64 designs are sent to the secretariat reviewed by the jury and eleven of the works were selected for the final judgement.

Maleki reminded that some representatives from Toy Council were present in the jury for evaluating the designs and ideas of the first Raazgosha Festival.

 “Escape Room” is a new entertainment based on real atmosphere to experience new challenge and special narration. 

Gamers enter a temporary narrative in the escape room and exit by role-playing, interacting, collaborating, and solving the challenges of this environment to expand their lived experience in a realistic simulated environment, in addition to experiencing a game. These rooms are formed since 2007 and entered the market formally since 2014. They have experienced an increasing growth in recent years.

Escape Room in Iran got common in 2015. At present, there are more than 200 escape room in Iran. Attractive narrative platform along with the appropriate income of these environments has caused an increasing growth of these games in Iran, in line with the world.
