The Largest Iran Animation Festival Commencing at Kanoon, May 29th 2022

12th Tehran International Animation Festival starts tomorrow, May 29th 2022. It will continue until June 2nd 2022 at Kanoon Center for Cultural and Artistic Creations.

According to Kanoon General Directorate for Public Relations and International Affairs, 12th Tehran International Animation Festival as Iran largest festival in the field of animation begins since tomorrow, May 29th 2022, at the Center for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (Kanoon). It is going to continue for five days.

Four movie theaters are going to display animations of this round of the festival: “Shahid Behnam Mohammadi”, “Ghadir”, “Cinema Kanoon”, and “Cinema Aseman” at eight different showings: 8:30, 10:30, 13, 17, 19, 21, and 23. The special program titled “The Commencers” starts at 8:30 in Ghadir Movie Theater and Cinema Aseman that reviews animations by Morteza Mommayez and Farshid Mesghali.

Concurring with this event, the 7th Festival Film Market is set up with 30 companies, organizations and universities in the field of animation participation. These institutions introduce their products and explain the process of creating them to the clients. They discuss and exchange information about such matters with the enthusiasts of the field.

During 12th Tehran International Animation Festival, a workshop with the title of “Better Comprehension and Recognition of Music in the Art of Animation” held for Kanoon trainers from May 29th to 2nd June, 2022 by Mehdi Zarea. This workshop is held every day from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Hall No. 1 at Kanoon Center for Cultural and Artistic Creations on Hejab St, Tehran.

“Music and Sound tracking in Animation” is another specialized workshop at this round of the festival held every day from 10 to 12 by Farhad Saffar for animation students at Hall No. 2 in Kanoon Center for Cultural and Artistic Creations on Hejab St, Tehran.

On the first day of the festival, at 3 pm, a workshop called “Pitching” is held with the presence of Ata Mojabi. It is supposed to help directors to get familiar with the concept and importance of “Pitching” as one of the requirements of the screenplay and ideas of raising budget.

Following the programs of the first day of the festival and since 17 p.m., a meeting titled “From Neptune to Ghonbad Caboud” is held with Babak Nekouie, Behnoud Nekouie, and Ramtin Shahbazi participation. “Ghonbad Caboud Studio” is one of the  pioneering companies in the area of animation that could made way to the prestigious Iranian and international festivals with its products and managed to win several awards. A short animation called “Stripy” is the first Iranian animation made way to the Oscar. The series called “Rouby and the Chickens” is one of the most outstanding products by this studio. Successful animations by “Ghonbad Caboud Studio” are going to be discussed and compared with successful animations produced by “Neptune”, a Japanese studio.

After displaying some short films at 20 pm, there is a meeting with Ramtin Shahbazi, Mehrdad Farahani, and the invited university professor, Fatemeh Hosseini Shakib discussing and criticizing “Crab, Grey Object and the Crow”.

12th Tehran International Animation Festival with Mohammad Reza Karimi Saremi as the festival director is held from May 29th to June 2nd 2022 at Kanoon Center for Cultural and Artistic Creations located on Hejab St, Tehran.
