“Sympathy Syndrome” Made Way to the Competition Section of Supertoon International Animation Festival, Croatia.

The short animation, “Sympathy Syndrome” directed by Saba Alizadeh was selected for the competition section called “Planktoon (Short Animated for Children)” at 12th Supertoon Animation Festival, Croatia.

According to Kanoon General Directorate for Public Relations and International Affairs, the films which made way to the competition section of the festival are classified in five categories: Grandtoon (Short Animated Films); Student Short Animated Films; Planktoon (Animated Films for Children); Supertoon (Animated Music Videos); and Comic (in three sections).
Based on this, Maral Alizadeh’s first short animation is screened with other films from Spain, France, Georgia, Armenia, Slovakia, and Russia on July 20, 2022 at 9:00 pm at open-air cinema Gorica in Zagreb, Croatia. The initial design of this animation was inspired by a story written by Tahereh Ibod and was produced in 2D digital technique in seven minutes and 14 seconds by Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults. Saba Alizadeh as the composer, Hossein Ghourchian as the sound designer, and Amir Houshang Moein as the consultant contributed to the production of “Sympathy Syndrome”.
120 films were selected out of the films sent to the competition sections of the festival. 20 films will compete at comic section. International Animation and Comic Supetoon Festival provides free atmosphere for animators and students of this field. It also provides the chance for comic authors to visit each other, participate at specialized panels, Q&A sessions and workshops to exchange ideas. 12th International Animation and Comic Supertoon Festival is held from 18 to 22 July, 2022 in Zagreb, Croatia for five days.
