Mythology Award for "Gilgamesh" from India Cinema Cultural Festival

“Gilgamesh”, an animation made by Hossein Moradizadeh, a Kanoon production in 2021, received the second award of “Mythology” from India Cinema Cultural Festival.

According to Kanoon General Directorate for Public Relations and International Affairs, the goal of holding this festival is felicitating international culture through cinema.

Gilgamesh is a well-known hero from Uruk, a city from Sumer in Mesopotamia. He spends his life in searching for eternity and he gets defied but finally he finds a plant that will make him eternal but a snake finds the plant and steals it. This way his life time achievement is lost.

The panorama at Cultural Cinema Festival is a means of employing media of cinematography to gather people with various cultures from all over the world. World cultures have provided domestic people with the chance to tell stories for centuries to transfer customs, ceremonies and rituals to the next generation as an heir.

Cinema Cultural Festival was established by the United Nations with the theme of "International Day of Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development" and is held with the aim of attracting passionate filmmakers from all over the world who make films about diverse cultural issues.

The "International Day of Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development", held every year on May 21, was declared as an international day after being adopted by UNESCO in 2001;  and the need to "increase the capacity of culture as a means to achieve well-being, sustainable development and "Global Peaceful Coexistence" as essential because the diverse cultures of the world over the centuries have provided many storytelling opportunities for local people to pass on these traditions, customs and heritage to the next generations.

The Second Cinema Cultural Festival is being held in India from July 15 to Aug 14, 2022 online all over India.
