Displaying Five Films by Abbas Kiarostami in Sao Luis, Brazil

A number of works by the late Iranian film director, Abbas Kiarostami, are going to be screened at the special classic film show at Sao Luis cinema theater in Brazil. .

According to Kanoon General Directorate for Public Relations and International Affairs, “Where is Friend’s House?” and “Life and Nothing More”, two feature films by Kiarostami and three short films, “Bread and Alley”, “Experience”, “The Traveler”, “are screened in the form of a special show at Sao Luis Cinema.

The five films by Kiarostami are going to be shown with some works by Carlos Saura, the prominent Spanish director, Oscar nominee and one of the most prolific filmmakers in Spain, for 12 days on the screen of Sao Luis movie theater.

The late Abbas Kiarostami is one of the most important and influential filmmakers of the world and Iran cinema. His works have been shown all over the world. He studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Tehran University. After joining Kanoon, Kiarostami made his first short film, “Bread and Alley” in 1970.

In 1972, Kiarostami made “Breaktime”. In 1974 and with making “Traveler”, Kiarostami was seen. After the revolution, he was the founder of a cinema that many filmmakers have been making films following it.

Abbas Kiarostami has left a brilliant profile. With “Taste of Cherry”, Kiarostami could win the Golden Palm of the Canne Film Festival in 1997.

The special show of classic films at Sao Luis Cinema Theater in Fortaleza, Brazil is being run from June 13 to 24, 2023.
