“Mehr-o-Mah" (The Sun and The Moon) Shines in Zivieh, Saqqez; Entering Kirkuk Festival, Iraq

“Mehr-o-Mah" (The Sun and The Moon), a ritual performance written and directed by Sadegh Kiani Moghaddam, as a winner of this event, could obtain the certificate to participate in The 9th Kirkuk International Children Theater Festival in Iraq.

According to Kanoon General Directorate for Public Relations and International Affairs, this work, produced by Kanoon staff, could obtain the best titles at various sections of Zivieh Festival.
Sadegh Kiani Moghaddam was selected at the male leading role and costume designing sections; in directing section he obtained the second rank. Elham Darabi got the second rank in supporting female section. The jury appreciated Danial Kamankesh performance.
Zivieh Ritual Theater Festival was held with 23 performances from Tehran province, Markazi province, Hamedan province, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, Gilan province, East Azerbaijan province, and West Azerbaijan province. This event had various performances in Saqqez, Baneh and Santeh in three days.
The jury for “Ritual Performance Section” included Mohammad Hatami, Arash Dadgar, Nejad Najm from Iraq and Mohammad Zareazadeh. Out of notable works, the jury introduced “Mehr-o-Mah" to participate in Kirkuk International Festival, Iraq.
“Mehr-o-Mah" narrates the phenomenon of “Lunar Eclipse”. In this performance, “The Moon” appears in the form of a woman kidnapped by Ahriman (Satan). People hold a funeral for the death of “The Moon”, but one of the participants calls others to fight the evil forces. After victory, “The Moon” returns and with the revival of her beloved, people set up the ceremony of joy and marriage.

3rd Zivieh Ritual Theater Festival was held 8 to 11 Oct 2025 in Saggez, Baneh, and Sanateh and it came to an end with introducing the winners.
“Mehr-o-Mah" performance, as Iran’s delegate, is going to participate in the 9th Kirkuk International Theater Festival in Iraq held 2 to 6 Nov 2025 in Iraq.
